Some of the most successful comic characters in Germany
Life ist a Comic Strip
Ully studied Illustration and Communication Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg and worked as an illustrator for advertising agencies after graduating. However, his true passion had always been comics and cartoons, sparked by the legendary comic magazine Zack. As an assistant to Herbert Feuerstein at the German edition of MAD, he gained essential skills, while Gigi Spina from Zack magazine provided him with valuable advice.
This led to early success with series like Knudchens Abenteuer, Charly Maus and Ingo Igels Interview on the children’s page of Stern magazine. When he developed the comic Ottifanten for Otto Waalkes and went on to produce content for newspapers and films over decades, there was no turning back. Since then, his creations have become an integral part of German comic pop culture: Post-Rolf, Ferdi Fuchs, Die Punkies, Cool Flame, Playboy cartoons, and much more.
The Ully Arndt Studios are located since 1990 in the heart of Altona, near the harbor, and provide a creative space for larger productions as well. For these, Ully Arndt can rely on a network of experienced freelancers for support.
